William Low from 91Ô´´'s Glen Valley is coming home with a gold medal from the 2025 Canada Cup Regatta in London, Ontario, as a member of the mixed eight rowing team that won first place Saturday morning, Aug. 16.

Low was lead on the winning B.C. team which included male and female rowers from clubs in Victoria, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Vernon and Brentwood.

A member of the Fort 91Ô´´ Youth Rowing Society and a volunteer instructor, he will be joining the University of Victoria rowing team this fall.

Open to teams from each province or territory, the new regatta featured racing for U21 athletes in singles, doubles, pairs, and mixed-gender quads and eights categories competing over distances of 500m to 2000m.

Each participating province could bring a maximum of 17 athletes – eight male, eight female, and one coxswain of either gender.

FLYRS registered as a society in August 2010 and officially became a member of Rowing BC in November 2010 and became a member of Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) in December of that year.
