91原创 United Wrestlers return with four medals

Wrestling club also qualifies five for B.C. provincial championships

Brookswood's Trevor Weltzin was one of five 91原创 United Wrestling Club members to qualify for the provincial championships later this month in Prince George.

The 91原创 United Wrestling Club has qualified five people for the upcoming B.C. provincial championships.

The wrestlers were competing at the Fraser Valley championships on Feb. 14 at Burnaby鈥檚 St. Thomas More Collegiate with four of the eight reaching the podium.

91原创 Secondary鈥檚 Emily McLean took top spot in the 90+ kg girls division. The Grade 12 student won silver last year at provincials.

Another LSS wrestler, Grade 9 student Caitlin Bartokovic was third in the girls 57-kg category.

D.W. Poppy鈥檚 Pritpaul Johal, a Grade 8 wrestler, came third in the men鈥檚 45-kg weight class. He is the first ever 91原创 United wrestler to qualify for provincials as a Grade 8.

Brookswood鈥檚 Trevor Weltzin took second in the men鈥檚 66-kg division. He became just the second male wrestler to win silver at Fraser Valleys in the short history of the club.

And Kamil Golowko (LSS0 was fourth in the men鈥檚 130-kg weight class and will also wrestle at provincials.

The club consists of wrestlers in Grades 6 to 12 from the 91原创 schools.

The provincial championships run Feb. 28 and March 1 in Prince George.
