The senior boys basketball team trailed by 10 points at the half in their quarter-final contest against the West Point Grey Wolves on Thursday afternoon at Trinity Western University, site of the Single A B.C. provincial high school championships.

But the Lightning came out of the locker room and scored 14 of the next 16 points and they never trailed from that point on.

The defence held the Wolves to four points in the third quarter.

Even more impressive was the fact 91原创 Christian accomplished all of this without one of their key cogs, Jason Wright.

Wright was forced out of the game late in the first half with a head injury, and when he did return with a massive bandage on his head in the third quarter, he spent much of the final 20 minutes on the bench with foul trouble.

But with Wright unavailable, Joel Kleingeltink more than picked up the slack, scoring 29 points and earning player of the game honours.

91原创 Christian, which is the fourth seed in the 16-team tournament, faces either the No.1 Kelowna Christian Knights or the No. 8 Pemberton Red Devils on Friday (March 9) at 6:30 p.m.

The Lightning won their opening round game 57-49 over the No. 13 Sparwood Spartans.

Wright was named player of the game and scored 19 points in the victory.
