The players and coaches all admit that 2012 was a disappointment and they vowed it would not happen again. And to their credit, the 91原创 Fundamental Titans senior boys volleyball team delivered.
Facing their local rivals, the 91原创 Christian Lightning 鈥 who just happened to be the defending provincial champions 鈥 the Titans won 3-0 to claim the school鈥檚 first-ever Double-A boys provincial volleyball banner on Nov. 30.
Talent was never the question for the Titans 鈥 two years ago, the core of the current squad had won the B.C. junior boys provincial title 鈥 but in 2012, at the senior level, the team played as individuals rather
than as a team and it showed with the gold medal victory.
鈥淭his year, we came together as a team and played with each other instead of just a one-man show,鈥 admitted power hitter Carson Heppell, who earned the tournament鈥檚 most outstanding player award.
鈥淲e were just disappointed in ourselves because we knew we were better than that,鈥 added Tristan Loewen, who was named the most outstanding libero of the tournament.
