With the 2025 NHL draft on the horizon, Jordan Gavin has made a name for himself as one of the WHL's most sportsmanlike players.
This season the South Surrey-raised forward scored 21 goals (including two game-winners), 57 points and zero penalties in 68 games with Brandon Wheat Kings and Tri-City Americans.
The last time Gavin took a penalty was during the 2022-23 season with Tri-City.
Now, , and with his Wheat Kings in a playoff fight with Lethbridge Hurricanes, Gavin has been picked as the WHL's Eastern Conference nominee for the Brad Hornung Memorial Trophy, given yearly to the junior hockey league's most sportsmanlike player.

Announced Thursday (April 3), the two other 2025 Eastern Conference nominees are Oliver Tulk (Calgary Hitmen) and Brayden Yager (Lethbridge Hurricanes), along with Western finalists Berkly Catton (Spokane Chiefs), Emmitt Finnie (Kamloops Blazers) and Kenta Isogai (Victoria Royals).
Currently with the Wheat Kings following a trade-deadline move, the 2006-born Gavin, 18, has kept things consistent in his third WHL season with another 20-plus goal campaign and zero penalty minutes.
So far in his 207-game WHL career, as a 5-foot-11 player, he has just four penalty minutes, 67 goals and 181 points, according to .
NHL Central Scouting's place Gavin 123rd among North American skaters. The draft will take place at Los Angeles' Peacock Theater on June 27-28.
Winners of 2025 WHL awards will be announced from April 22 to May 7, following a tally of general manager votes.
Over the years, winners of the league's Brad Hornung trophy have included Carolina Hurricanes forwards Logan Stankoven (Kamloops Blazers) and Seth Jarvis (Portland Winterhawks), and Stanley Cup champs Sam Reinhart (Kootenay ICE) and Mark Stone (Brandon Wheat Kings).
