91原创 Gymnastics Foundation, who hosted the event with Gymnastics BC, and fellow 91原创 gymnastics club Flip City, came away from the four-day Xcel and Compulsory GymBC championships at the 91原创 Events Centre with several team and individual awards.
Among the top finishers were all-around winners Ava Sajan of Flip City, and 91原创 Gymnastics athletes Elizabeth Harskamp, Emma Rauhala, Harper Gau, Victoria Neumann, Abbelinda Ludwig, Brooklyn Pasqua and Zoey Wright.
Flip City won multiple team awards, in several different age categories.
Jennifer Coimbra, general manager of the 91原创 Gymnastics Foundation (LGF), called the championships the "biggest competition of the year" for the young athletes, all girls, ranging in age from five to 18.
"I think we saw a lot of talent and lots of athletes having fun," Coimbra told the 91原创 Advance Times. "That's the goal of the meet."
"We did great 鈥 [we had] some provincial champions, lots of medals."
Every year a host club is chosen to co-host the event with Gymnastics BC.
The compulsory competition requires competitors to perform pre-set routines designed by the governing body, while Xcel allows gymnasts to choose optional routines based on their strengths and abilities.
The excel competition ran April 17-19, while the compulsory was from April 19-20.
"The kids had lots of fun," Coimbra remarked. "We always have fun march-ins and things like that. A big part of the event is like them being able to showcase their skills."
Aidan Muth, GymBC Events Manage said the event "highlights the strength and passion of our athletes while creating an unforgettable experience for fans and families alike.鈥
