Plenty of accolades for 91Ô­´´ Rams as year-end awards handed out

Four honoured as tops for their position as B.C. Football Conference hands out all-stars, awards

Nick Downey headlines the list of 91Ô­´´ Rams who were recognized for their outstanding seasons when the B.C. Football Conference announced its all-stars and major award winners.

Downey was named the league’s top special teams player. He had six return touchdowns — five on punts, one kick-off — and averaged 19.8 yards per return.

He was one of four Rams to be recognized as the tops for their position.

Adam Konar was named outstanding linebacker after finishing with 82 defensive points. Konar had 16 tackles, seven assists, five sacks, three interceptions and four fumble recoveries. He also had one touchdown. Konar was also named the league’s outstanding defensive player.

Anthony Daley and Evan Foster were named the league’s top offensive and defensive linemen, respectively.

Foster had 21 tackles, six assists, 9.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries. He finished with 81 defensive points.

And the last award went to wide receiver Malcolm Williams, the league’s top rookie. Williams finished with a league-leading 42 catches. He also was tops with 13 touchdowns and had 768 receiving yards.

The Rams also had several all-stars:

Daley, Spencer Lang (offensive line), Daniel Xavier (running back), Downey and Williams (wide receivers) were selected for the offence,

Downey was also named as a returner.

On the defensive side of the ball, Foster and Dan Sharpe were picked for the defensive line. Sharpe had nine tackles, two assists, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble and 35 defensive points.

Konar and Arie Nakagawa were chosen for the linebackers.

Nakagawa had 22 tackles, nine assists, 0.5 sacks, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

And Nick Felicella was named an all-star among the defensive backs.

He had nine tackles, six assists, one sack, eight knockdowns, two fumble recoveries and 61 defensive points.
