One night after coming up just short against the UBC Thunderbirds, the Trinity Western Spartans fell to 0-2 on the season after losing 75-52 to the country's tenth-ranked team.
The Spartans women's basketball team was hosting UBC at the 91原创 Events Centre on Nov. 2 and 3 to kick off the Canada West season.
"For us, (we) lost too many of the battles on the second and third efforts," said Spartans coach Cheryl Jean-Paul.
"There were times we just assumed they were going to make a lay-up and we gave up way too many boards.
"We just didn't have the same commitment to defence that we had yesterday."
In the first game, UBC used a strong fourth quarter where they outscored the Spartans 24-15 to win 60-54.
Holly Strom led the home team with 17 points and eight rebounds, while also blocking a pair of shots.
Saturday's game saw the T-Birds connect on 54 per cent of their shots while Trinity Western shot just under 30 per cent.
This time, it was Sarah Cleveland leading the offence for the Spartans with 18 points.
The Spartans are off to Prince George this weekend for a pair of games against the UNBC Timberwolves.
