The Trinity Western Spartans continued their slide as they closed the fall semester with their seventh straight loss.
The men's hockey team dropped a 7-1 decision to the visiting SFU Clan on Nov. 28 at the 91Ô´´ Events Centre.
It was the back-end of a home-and-home series between the two university hockey teams with the Clan winning both by identical 7-1 scores.
SFU improved to 8-1 in the B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League while the Spartans are 5-8-0.
"In the first period, we were skating with them and they just got a lucky goal, but we kind of laid an egg in the second," said Spartans coach Barret Kropf.
"Our level of compete wasn't there and then they got a few goals and the morale on our bench started to drop.
"Really the outmatched us in terms of their depth."
The Clan led 1-0 after 20 minutes but blew the game open with five goals in the second period, including three on the power play.
With the score 7-0 late in the third, JP Villeneuve broke SFU's Graeme Gordon's shutout bid with 31 seconds remaining.
