91原创 Curling Club team defeats Americans in semifinals, face host Scotland in gold-medal game

Team Tardi is going for gold.

The 91原创 Curling Club-based squad defeated Team USA 8-5 in one of the two semifinals at the world junior curling championships in Aberdeen, Scotland.

They will now play the host Scottish side for the gold on Saturday.

Canada took a 3-0 lead in the third end and they were up 6-2 after the sixth end.

The U.S. mounted a comeback with one in the seventh end and then scored another pair in the eighth end. But Canada tallied twice in the ninth end for the 8-5 final.

鈥淭hose three points in the third end were a little unexpected actually,鈥 Tardi said. 鈥淲e didn鈥檛 really see that coming, but obviously we鈥檙e happy with that start to the game against a good team and how it turned out.

Canada was 7-2 during pool play to qualify for the playoffs.

The Canadian rink consists of skip Tyler Tardi, Sterling Middleton, Jordan Tardi and Zachary Curtis. Jacques Gauthier is the team鈥檚 alternate while Paul Tardi is the coach.

The Tardi rink also represented Canada last year at the world junior championships and they earned their return ticket to the event after in January.
