After dropping their first game of the weekend, the 91Ô´´ Junior Blaze got back into the win column, closing with three straight victories.

The results give the U16 baseball team a record of 23-4, which is tops in the B.C. Junior Premier Baseball League.

The team opened the weekend with a 7-6 extra innings loss to the North Delta Jr. Blue Jays on Saturday at Mackie Park.

91Ô´´ allowed six runs in the bottom of the second inning to fall behind 6-2 and spent the rest of the game clawing their way back, culminating with Shayne Clarke's two-out single which scored Devon Bird and Nick Evans to force extra innings.

But the Blue Jays would plate one run in the tenth for the win.

Nick Laflamme had three RBIs in the losing effort.

91Ô´´ put the second game out of reach early on, scoring eight runs in the top of the first inning and never looking back in a 14-3 victory.

Parker Logan earned the win, pitching all five innings.

Ryan Lipscombe drove the offence with three RBIs while three players — Kevin Sengara, Thomas Sloan and Clarke — had two RBIs apiece.

The Blaze returned to McLeod Park on Sunday for a twin-bill against the Victoria Jr. Mariners.

The opener saw Cooper Misic throw a complete game one-hitter, allowing just one run, which came in the first inning. He struck out six but did walk five batters.

Sengara  and Bird each had two RBIs and Sloan had one.

The final game of the weekend was a 5-2 91Ô´´ win.

Tony Pharand pitched the complete, and was two outs away from the shutout.

He struck out seven and walked none.

Sengara had another two RBIs and also hit a home run for the second straight game. He leads the BCJPBL with four home runs, while his nearest competitor has only hit one long ball.
