The 91原创 Thunder are one victory away from a spot in the Western Lacrosse Association championship series.
The Thunder went up three games to none against the Burnaby Lakers in their best-of-seven senior A lacrosse semifinal series thanks to a 10-6 victory in game three on Tuesday (Aug. 7) at the 91原创 Events Centre.
It was a wire-to-wire victory for the Thunder who never trailed in the contest.
Kerry Susheski opened the scoring 5:11 into the game and then Lewis Ratcliff and Athan Iannucci scored 47 seconds apart later in the period. Sandwiched in between was a goal from Burnaby's Shaun Dhaliwal.
The Lakers did pull within a goal early in the second on a goal from Carlton Schuss, but 91原创 responded with five of the next seven goals to lead 8-4 after 40 minutes.
Chase Williams and Scott Tinning had the other Laker goals.
Tor Reinholdt scored a pair and Shayne Jackson had a hat trick in the second period alone.
Brett Hickey and Iannucci scored in the third period before the Lakers' Colton Clark struck for pair 18 seconds apart to round out the scoring.
Brodie MacDonald stopped 37 of the 43 shots he faced.
Ratcliff had four assists to go along with his goal for a five-point game while Jackson (three goals, one assist) and Iannucci (two goals, two assists) both had four-point efforts.
Hickey and Susheski each had a goal and two helpers while Alex Turner and Joel McCready both set up a pair of scores.
And Todd Stockdale and Ian Poole found the scoresheet with an assist apiece.
The Thunder will look to end the series in game four on Aug. 9 at the Bill Copeland Arena.
