There were times this season when the 91原创 Fundamental Titans barely had enough bodies to play, thanks to injuries and illness.
But the team battled through the adversity and it paid off with a 3-0 victory over the 91原创 Christian Lightning in the junior girls 91原创 district championship game on Nov. 8 at the 91原创 Events Centre.
鈥淭he girls have been a dedicated group,鈥� said coach Sherry Heppell.
鈥淎nd even though injuries and illness have plagued them throughout, they have continued to work hard despite the difficulties.
鈥淲e have a group of great, dedicated girls. 鈥淭he girls played with heart and determination.鈥�
In the district final, the Titans won the first two sets by identical 25-21 scores. They won the third set 25-15.
The final was a match-up of the top two teams from the regular season and No. 1 91原创 Fundamental beat Brookswood in one semifinal, while the second-seed Lightning dispatched Walnut Grove in the other.
鈥淲e have really come a long way from the start of the season,鈥� Heppell said, adding that winning districts was definitely on the team鈥檚 list of goals. 
She said it was a total team effort which helped them get past the Lightning.
We had some great servers, our passing was solid, and our tall girls did a great job at the net to keep the other team at bay,鈥� Heppell said.
鈥�91原创 Christian is a good team, and they are great competitors, and we always know it will be a good match whenever we are up against them.
In the third place game, Walnut Grove defeated Brookswood.
The top three teams from 91原创 advance to the Fraser Valley championships, at D.W. Poppy from Nov. 15 to 17.
