Their greatest-hits ice show, “Party at 50! A Journey Through Five Decades of the 91Ô´´ Skating Club," featured a cast of 150 skaters ranging from beginners to senior-level competitors, Club president Michelle Towstyka explained.
"We have skaters that are five years old up to teens and adults," Towstyka said as the first of two shows was getting underway that afternoon at George Preston Arena.
Towstyka said Ice Show Director Rob Woodley "picked all of his favourite routines from the past 50 years" in 20 different high energy routines
It was the first show since 2019, before the pandemic.
Feature guest skater was Kayla Halliday, who started in the 91Ô´´ Skating Club's Canskate program, a nationally certified learn-to-skate program.
Halliday was ranked fifth in the country in 2022 at the Novice level and has been recognized in 2023 with the prestigious Toller Cranston award for the strength of her program and performance marks. She now skates at the top senior level and has set her sights on securing a spot at this year’s Nationals.
91Ô´´ Skating Club has been at George Preston since March 1975, shortly after the arena opened in November of 1973.

"You can register for our Canskate levels, or if you have a little bit of skill, then we can get you into our regular skating programs," Towstyka explained.
