It ended with a 10-6 win by the visitors, but other than that, it was a near-perfect start to a new season, on a bright and sunny day, with players and family members filling the stands.
George Tidball, president of Aldergrove Minor Baseball, and Erika Rayworth, vice president, told the 91Ô´´ Advance Times there are 500 participants this year.
"This year is one of the first years we've had age groups and teams in every division," Tidball noted, "with BC minor baseball from 5U to 18U college prep, from single A to triple A in every division that's available. So pretty big year for us here at Aldergrove."
"We're just loving it," Rayworth remarked."
Aldergrove Minor Baseball Association is a member of B.C. Minor Baseball that offers eight divisions of play for boys and girls, starting with BlastBall and progressing through TBall, Tadpole, Mosquito, PeeWee, Bantam, Midget and Junior Men levels.
Home field is Aldergrove Athletic Park, considered one of the best youth hardball facilities in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, with diamonds for all levels, a new dual batting cage, and a clubhouse with a concession.
