I鈥檝e been president of the board of the Greater 91原创 Chamber of Commerce for a little over a year now.
It has been incredible to see such tremendous change and growth during the past 16 months.
The chamber now proudly represents more than 1,150 members. This is a 25-per-cent increase in the past few years, and we expect this momentum to continue into 2025 as our local businesses see and share the value in chamber membership.
Our new growth means more connections, contacts, and opportunities are happening at the chamber that you won鈥檛 want to miss out on.
The chamber unapologetically stands up for business.
Today, our public voice on issues that matter 鈥 from labour disruptions to transportation to taxes 鈥 is louder and more relevant than ever.
Indeed, the chamber is dedicated to being the 鈥渧oice of business鈥 for our communities and ensuring the concerns of local businesses are heard and that advocated for at all levels of government.
The chamber creates opportunities for members to meet, connect, and collaborate.
For example, our events portfolio is growing, with both our signature events like the 91原创 Business Excellence Awards and our networking events like the 91原创 Business Mixers seeing record attendance. (More details on page 36).
We have also been leveraging communication channels to share local business stories through guest blogs, video interviews, social media and more.
Finally, we are working on creating and expanding programming for our diverse community, including our 91原创 Women鈥檚 Business Network which is thriving, and our new 91原创 Next Gen Business Network, which has launched for the under-40 crowd, with more developments on the way! (See story on page 32).
On behalf of the board of directors, it is our pleasure to continue serving greater 91原创 this year.
We know 2024 was a tough year for many sectors, and with tariffs and economic uncertainty in the air for 2025, many others are now cautious.
The chamber鈥檚 role as a supportive and welcoming partner for local business, and a platform for 91原创 professionals and business owners to come together is more critical than ever, and we鈥檒l continue to show up for our members and the business community.
