Expect to see some interesting motorcycles on local roads Sunday for the 25th annual Ride For The Kids.
The Greater Vancouver Motorcycle Club ride raises funds for the B.C. Fire Fighters Burn Fund and kids with burn injuries.
鈥淛oin us for a fun day of riding or driving, meeting new people, eating good food, entertainment, silent auction and draws,鈥 said Jackie Heppler, an organizer.
Cars and trucks are welcome to take part in the event that starts and ends at the GVMC clubhouse at 9785 192nd St.
The day kicks off with a panchacke breakfast at 9 a.m. for $5. The ride sign up starts at 10 a.m. and the ride heads out to travel the Fraser Valley at 11 a.m.
Not a rider? That鈥檚 okay, the breakfast, entertainment and lunch are open to anyone. Lunch is by donation to the Burn Fund. Sign up to ride (or drive) for $25 (includes ride and dessert).
The event goes rain or shine.
For many years, the ride benefited charities including BC Children鈥檚 Hospital, all in the name of Jackie鈥檚 late husband, Gord Heppler, who died of cancer on May 21, 1992, at the age of 44. He was a motorcycle enthusiast who loved kids.
In 2012, after 20 consecutive years of putting on the run, Jackie stepped back as the main organizer with the club playing a bigger role. It renamed the event the GVMC Ride For The Kids.
