Aldergrove鈥檚 own Country Cuties Dance Team (CCDT) is inviting the community to kick up their heels at a line dancing lesson night on Wednesday, Aug. 13. The event will be held at 26607 Fraser Hwy, held at the Aldergrove Royal Canadian Legion.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the beginner-friendly lesson will run from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $15 each or two for $25, with 40 limited spots. Organizers encourage early registration by emailing countrycutiesdance@gmail.com.
Kelda Piluke, director of CCDT, said the event offers a fun and welcoming environment for anyone interested in learning. 鈥淲e don鈥檛 do anything super complicated, it鈥檚 all beginner-level,鈥 she said. 鈥淚f you happen to go to a party and line dancing breaks out, you鈥檒l know what to do.鈥
Piluke has been part of the team for over 15 years and has served as director for the past eight. She joined after the team鈥檚 founding in 2004, when it was originally based at Gabby鈥檚 Country Cabaret in 91原创. In 2019, the group relaunched independently as the Country Cuties Dance Team.
Now 14 members strong, the team practices weekly and performs across the Fraser Valley. 鈥淲e all come from different jobs and areas, but we come together once a week to do something we love,鈥 said Piluke.
CCDT is also preparing for fall auditions. The first round takes place on Wednesday, Sept. 17 by invitation, with selected dancers advancing to round two on Sept. 24. For invitation details email countrycutiesdance@gmail.com.
Applicants must be 19 or older. No dance experience is required. 鈥淟ine dancing is repetitive and easy to pick up,鈥 said Piluke. 鈥淎nyone can do it.鈥
