Neighbours have created an online fundraiser to support a single mother and her daughters after they lost everything in a house fire in Surrey Thursday.
Surrey Fire crews responded to a house fire on Aug. 7 in the 8900 block of 150A Street around 4:30 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters could see smoke and flames coming through the roof of the home, a Black Press freelancer at the scene that day said.
Lori Diven, a neighbour, Berenice Ssnchez and her four daughters, Zaira (17), Bryanna (15), Ariana: (13) and Idania (9).
The family was not injured in the fire and had been renting the top half of the home. Diven stated in the fundraiser that the fire caused extensive damage to the home and without tenant insurance Ssnchez is left to cover the costs of replacing everything.
"They are starting from scratch without a home, and without the basic essentials we all rely on," Diven said.
The fundraiser will cover costs associated with finding emergency housing, replacing clothes, furniture, household items and purchasing necessities such as groceries, toiletries, school supplies and school clothes.
"The girls will be going back to school soon without even the daily essentials. They lost their dad only a few years ago and have been hit with another tragedy. This will be an incredibly difficult time for them and at such a tender young age," Diven said.
"Every dollar makes a difference. Whether you can give a little or a lot, your support will ease an incredibly difficult time for a kind and loving family that would never ask for help themselves.. Every donation, no matter the amount, will make a huge difference!!"
