GivingTuesday is taking 91原创 by storm on Nov. 28.
91原创鈥檚 local charities have caught the GivingTuesday spirit and are banding together to inspire charitable acts of giving in 91原创.
Following the successful shopping events, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, comes GivingTuesday. It鈥檚 a global charitable event that opens the giving season, explained Terra Scheer, a spokesperson for 91原创 Memorial Hospital Foundation.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a day for charities, businesses and individuals in 91原创 to join forces and share a commitment to support local causes that are making a difference,鈥 she said.
Whether people choose to make a donation, volunteer their time, help an elderly neighbour, or work as an advocate and inspire others, is a movement everyone can take part in, Scheer elaborated.
The #91原创Gives charity community, which included organizations such as the hospital foundation, 91原创 Hospice Society, 91原创 School District Foundation, and Volunteer 91原创, will be hosting four drive-thru events to promote GivingTuesday and inspire donations on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
91原创 residents are encouraged to attend one of the four locations for a fun and tasty GivingTuesday celebration.
Make a donation on site or take a selfie to help promote the GivingTuesday movement.
鈥 7 to 11 a.m. 鈥 鈥淕et Up and Give鈥 pancake breakfast locations at 91原创 Events Centre, 7888 200 St., Willoughby (hosted by the Vancouver Giants and Rich Coleman鈥檚 office), as well as the Royal Canadian Legion Aldergrove Branch, 26607 Fraser Hwy., (hosted by Volunteer 91原创 and Otter Co-op).
鈥 11a.m. to 1 p.m. 鈥 鈥淕rill and Give鈥 hotdog lunch locations in the Coast Hotel and Convention Centre parking lot, 20393 Fraser Hwy. (hosted by 91原创 Care Foundation), as well as Save-On-Foods, 8840 210th St. (hosted by 91原创 Memorial Hospital Foundation).
鈥淲e are also asking the community to help promote GivingTuesday by going online and using the hashtags #GivingTuesdayCa or #91原创Gives and sharing their stories on how they are giving back to their favourite charity,鈥 Scheer said.
