A Fort 91原创 church has raised over $29,600 for four local charities.
sent the cheques this month to Wagner Hills Ministries, Encompass Support Services Society, Young Life 91原创 and New Hope Community Services.
鈥淲e were able to buy a car for one of our organizations, sponsor a refugee family for a year, send a number of high school students to camp, cover the annual venue rental costs for a high school support group, pay for a number of strollers and bus tickets so single moms can get to their support groups (among other things)鈥� said Tyson Kliem, the Lead Pastor at Fraser Point.
The church holds services every Sunday at the Chief Sepass Theatre in the 91原创 Fine Arts School at in Fort 91原创.
Pastor Kliem said Be Rich is inspired from the verse 1Timothy 6:18 that says, 鈥淭ell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others.鈥�
鈥淏e Rich鈥� was a partnership campaign with 63 other churches in North America that collectively raised 5.8 million dollars for local charities.
In the past five years the Fort 91原创 church has raised more than $85,000 to help local charities and organizations.
In addition, the Fraser Point congregation performed nearly 100 hours of volunteer work helping with various projects at the charities.
鈥淚鈥檓 overjoyed to see the people of our church rally around various organizations that are making a difference in the community鈥� Kliem said.
鈥淎 church should exist for the benefit of the community 鈥� not just it鈥檚 members. That means partnering with people who are making a difference in the lives of families, high school students, single moms, newly landed refugees and those recovering from addictions - to name a few.鈥�
