Volunteers tidied up the area around the classic CN train station in Fort 91原创 on Saturday, Dec. 4, and prettied up the station with Christmas lights.
It was a joint effort by the union representing Township employees, , (YLC) and the that operates the heritage station.
Running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event happened to fall on the first day that snow fell in 91原创, but it didn鈥檛 deter the 60 people who showed up to collecting 450 pounds of litter and raising $140 for the 91原创 Food Bank, said Bryan Miller, founder of Your Local Community.
鈥淲ith the weather being what it was it ended up being a pretty good turn out of volunteers,鈥 Miller remarked.

Station manager Helen Williams described her reaction as 鈥渄elighted.鈥
鈥淭he lights were not only purchased by these organizations (CUPE and YLC), but both supplied the volunteers to install energy efficient lights in the garden, and on the station鈥檚 roofline Saturday morning, despite the rain.鈥
Garden lights will be removed after the New Year however 鈥渢he depot will shine bright throughout the year using a fraction of electricity,鈥 Williams explained.
鈥淲e look forward to partnering with YLC鈥檚 community clean-up events and encouraging others to respect 91原创鈥檚 built and natural heritage,鈥 Williams added.
