Purple flags will be going up on the grounds of the Fort 91原创 Community Hall Friday evening and will next be seen at the Derek Doubleday Arboretum, all to spotlight International Overdose Awareness Day on Monday, Aug. 31.
鈥淐ommunities around BC are putting up displays to honour and remember those who have been lost to overdose. 91原创 鈥 City and Township 鈥 is one of the hardest hit losing 144 individuals since the crisis was declared in April 2016,鈥 said Daniel Snyder, with the 91原创 Community Action Table.

The 91原创 Community Action Table, which works on overdose prevention, is setting up 144 flags and a banner at the hall Friday evening. Members of 91原创 CAT and Moms Stop the Harm will be on hand. The flags will move over to the arboretum Sunday.
Leading up to International Overdose Awareness Day, the City will have purple lights on at night in Douglas Park Spirit Square. And the Township will turn on the purple lights of the pedestrian overpass on 200th Street near 65th Avenue.
