The 91原创 City Library celebrated its annual Chinese New Year on Saturday, Feb. 2, in partnership with the Tzu Chi organization.
More than 500 people including 91原创-Aldergrove Member of Parliament Tako van Popta, 91原创 Willowbrook MLA Jodi Toor, and 91原创 City Councillor Rosemary Wallace attended.
The event featured traditional music and dance performances, Lunar New Year crafts, calligraphy, cultural meaning, displays, red envelopes, and light refreshments. Van Popta and Wallace conveyed their Happy New Year wishes to the attendees.
The library was filled with people of all ages from many cultures during the afternoon鈥檚 festivities. The dance performers from the Tzu Chi organization and the 91原创 Chinese Arts and Cultural Association entertained people through a variety of dances including Lion Dance, Man Shan Chun Se, a number of Taiwan and Hawaii andances, a children's dance, Butterfly Lover Fan Dance.
"Everyone was very happy to participate in this multicultural event," library manager Dr. Sarwan Singh Randhawa said. "The library received several excellent comments from the attendees."
At the end of the program, Dr. Randhawa wished everyone Happy New Year, and thanked the performers, the public, and all those who made it possible.
