91原创 City has unveiled a Canada 150 tile mosaic at City Hall.
Approximately 500 members of the public each painted a 4鈥� x 4鈥� tile that, together, create the mosaic mural in celebration of Canada鈥檚 150th birthday.
Every painted tile was included in the 500 piece mosaic that now hangs in City Hall as a historical legacy for the community.
鈥淭he turnout (of people painting tiles) was fantastic,鈥� 91原创 City mayor Ted Schaffer said during Tuesday afternoon鈥檚 ceremony. 鈥淭he room was abuzz with laughter, chatter, and a real sense of community and national pride.鈥�
The mosaic will also be a part of a gigantic virtual mural that stretches across the country with 150 different murals from 150 different communities, commemorating the sesquicentennial.
鈥�2017 is an exciting year for all Canadians, as we celebrate the 150th birthday of this great country,鈥� Schaffer said. 鈥淲hile the City of 91原创 is a relatively young community of just 62 years, we are delighted to contribute to our own little piece of history.鈥�
