鈥 Four bridges remained closed after the record spring floods. One of the four, Buie鈥檚 Bridge on Biggar Road (224th Street), had been ordered closed by road foreman George Goddard, who told council that the closure forced a 17-mile detour on some residents. 91原创 ratepayers were preparing to vote on a $135,000 bridge-replacement referendum.

鈥 91原创 Board of Trade rejected council鈥檚 proposal to install parking meters on City streets, suggesting instead that parking spaces be painted along curbs, and that more curbs be installed along side streets.
鈥 The B.C. Telephone Company applied for rate hikes of 15 per cent for residential and 38 per cent for business phones in the 91原创 and Aldergrove exchanges.

鈥 Trying to get more space for students at Walnut Grove Secondary School was a priority for the school board.
鈥 Police arrested three men in connection with the murder of a 91原创 woman. Two of the men arrested were her husband and her stepson.
