Posthumous award for 91原创鈥檚 Bays Blackhall

The late community activist won a provincial citizenship award.

The late Bays Blackhall has been honoured with a provincial Medal of Good Citizenship.

Blackhall was one of 19 British Columbians receiving the award for outstanding community service.

鈥淚t is an honour to congratulate these community leaders whose commitment helps strengthen our society,鈥 said Premier John Horgan.

Flags flew at half mast in Fort 91原创 in the spring of 2017 when Blackhall passed away. She was involved with the Fort 91原创 Legacy Foundation, the Fort 91原创 Community Association, and with organizing Douglas Day and May Day celebrations.

With her husband, Bob, she was given the Eric Flowerdew Volunteer of the Year Award in 2007.

She was also a frequent letter-writer to local papers and spoke out on issues of community development, particularly around Fort 91原创.
