VIDEO: Douglas Park packed for 91原创 City Community Day

Mild weather made for big crowds at annual celebration in the park

Ethan Cody enjoyed the zip-line so much, he went on it twice at 91原创 City Community Day on Saturday.

"You weren't scared, were you?" his mom Felicia DiStefano asked him as he gave a shy nod no.

He and his mom twice soared above Douglas Crescent for a couple hundred feet. They were some of the many in the long lineup for the ride that made its first appearance at Community Day.

The event on June 14 saw big crowds as people checked out booths by local community groups, government agencies, and businesses, participated in games and activities, enjoyed live entertainment on the Spirit Square stage, and checked out the array of offerings by the Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival. The free and secure Bike Valet was a success, increasing use by double over the previous year.

鈥淲e鈥檙e incredibly proud of how the community came together to celebrate this milestone year,鈥 said Kim Hilton, director of Arts, Culture, and Community Services. 鈥淔rom the new activities to the strong turnout, Community Day 2025 truly reflected the spirit and energy of 91原创 City.鈥
