A local realtor purchased houses for 30 91原创 kids 鈥 gingerbread houses that is.

Realtor Matthew Rufh threw the 3rd annual 鈥淕ingerRufh House Party,鈥 a holiday gingerbread building contest and pizza party, on Wednesday night to 鈥渂ring the Christmas spirit鈥 to the 91原创 Boys and Girls Club.

鈥淚 wanted to give back to an organization that鈥檚 close to the City of 91原创 and close to my heart. It鈥檚 a great atmosphere for them to come out and have fun and get extra curricular activities in like this,鈥 said Matthew.

The amount of real homes that Matthew sells throughout the year matches how many gingerbread houses he purchases for the kids to decorate at the annual holiday party.

This year, Matthew sold 30 homes, and supplied more than enough gingerbread for each participate to decorate their own house.

鈥淭he hardest part now is finding all the kids to decorate them,鈥 laughed Rufh.

And this year, Matthew was joined by his sister Courtney Rufh, who began a career as a 91原创 realtor last year.

鈥淚 just wanted to see the excitement in the kids. I love making gingerbread houses myself and I love Christmas time so getting to help out and meet the kids is awesome,鈥 added Courtney.

According to Boys and Girls Club activity coordinator Laney McBride, having guests such as Matthew and Courtney shows the kids that people in the community care about them.

鈥淚 think it helps them out just knowing there鈥檚 other people besides the Boys and Girls Club who care and want to assist them and give them fun activities. Some of these kids don鈥檛 get to do Christmas things at home because parents can鈥檛 afford to bring that stuff in.鈥

Twenty-five children in Grades 6 to 8 enjoyed the evening filled with food, holiday tunes, laughs, and creativity.

The Boys and Girls Club is a safe space where children can do activities, play sports, work on homework, and more.

Children aged 6 to 18 are welcome to join.
