Work is well underway on renovating the Adam family鈥檚 Aldergrove home, as part of this year鈥檚 Acts of Kindness Extreme Home Repair project.
On Thursday, Gail Bergen was sanding trim to get it ready for painting.
鈥淚 volunteer every year,鈥 Bergen said.
Though the project is spearheaded by the Church of the Valley, Bergen isn鈥檛 a member of the church. She鈥檚 volunteered for eight years to help out in her community.
鈥淟ots of fun, lots of great people,鈥 she said.
Also helping was Greta Visser, who has a personal reason for working on the project 鈥 it鈥檚 her daughter鈥檚 home.
Charlene Adam suffered a stroke more than a year ago and is still recovering, while her husband Adam was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
Between limitations financial and physical, they haven鈥檛 been able to fix up their home.
Visser said after she helped her daughter pack up as the family moved into a hotel for a couple weeks, she came back days later and was surprised at how much work had already been done.
鈥淭he volunteers are absolutely amazing,鈥 she said.
Thursday was day six of 15 for the project.
