Volunteers assembled 600 Seeds for Seniors bags at the BC Farm Museum in Fort 91原创 on Thursday morning.

Karen Long, president of the farm museum, led the charge by inviting volunteers to the museum courtyard where a masked and social distanced assembly line formed.

Cherry tomato and lettuce seeds, plus small plastic planting cups and seed guiders are included in the brown paper bags.

A Dr. 鈥淏onnie Henry Cosmos blend鈥 from West Coast Seeds is also included, playing on the provincial health officers mantra; 鈥渂ee kind, bee calm, bee safe.鈥

鈥淭he bags will be delivered to senior organizations to pass on to their clients and residents,鈥 explained Long, who noted the project was supported by a Government of Canada鈥檚 New Horizon grant.

The first 250 of the packages were delivered to 91原创 Meals on Wheels for distribution throughout the spring, and others are being dropped off for Evergreen Timbers residents, as well as with the Aldergrove Veterans and Seniors Centre.

The last will be distributed through the farm museum and a few other non-profits around town, Long said.
