$50,000 contest for local filmmakers

Filmmakers could win $50,000 to make film. Deadline for submissions is April 11.

Seasoned filmmakers in B.C. and Alberta can win one of 30 $10,000 grants to produce a web series by pitching their idea at www.storyhive.com.

Storyhive, founded by Telus in 2014, provides grants, mentorship and distribution opportunities to creators in Western Canada.

The finalists will use their production grants to bring projects to life and fans will then vote to select two winners (one from B.C. and one from Alberta).

The winners will receive a $50,000 grant to produce their full web series, as well as customized career training and mentorship and distribution opportunities via Telus.

Deadline for submissions is April 11.

Finalists will be announced in May and the winners will be announced in August.

To date, Storyhive has provided grants to more than 100 projects in Western Canada and has invested over $1 million into the creative sector.
