Senior art students of Trinity Western University (TWU) will host an exhibit running until Apr. 30 at 91原创 Centennial Museum. Retracing Social Practice opens Sunday, Mar. 6 with a range of types of work.

Local graphic design boutique, Flying Horse Design Studio is supporting the exhibit which the firm鈥檚 owner, Christie Wengranowski sees as a win/win.

鈥淚 felt it was a good fit,鈥 Wengranowski said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 kind of exciting to be working with the community.鈥

Flying Horse previously hired a TWU grad to join the firm鈥檚 team and now is involved in both financial and creative support to TWU鈥檚 School of the Arts, Media + Culture (SMAC).

As a former 91原创 Fine Arts student, Wengranowski knows the importance of education and exposure for the TWU students.

鈥淚鈥檝e been working with [SAMC] since last year,鈥 she said.

The coming exhibition touches on themes of social practices; how people think about them and interpret them, through paintings, drawings, and 3D art pieces.

In addition to collection of work to be displayed, there will be the solo exhibitions of two TWU honours students.

91原创鈥檚 Darby Arens will have Hats of Possibility presented. This display of more than 150 paper hats, each adorned with a handwritten childhood dream, is intended to reconnect the viewer with imagination.

Another 91原创 resident, Gabrielle Shallahamer incorporates keys collected from hotels around the world into a piece on understanding signs.

The opening reception for Retracing Social Practice is at 6:30 p.m. on Mar. 31. Admission to the exhibit at the 91原创 Centennial Museum at 9135 King St. is free.
