Cadence, a B.C. made psychological horror feature film, was awarded the #mustseebc award at the Vancouver International Film Festival.

91原创 filmmaker Alex Lasheras is the winner of the Vancouver International Film Festival鈥檚 (VIFF) #mustseebc award, a title given to this year鈥檚 most anticipated B.C. produced film.

The announcement was made during the film festival鈥檚 opening night gala at the end of September.

Lasheras won the title for Cadence, his debut feature film, after receiving the highest number of public online votes.

The #mustseebc competition included 10 feature films from emerging and established B.C. filmmakers and celebrates the talent that exists in our home province.

Cadence is a unique psychological thriller dealing with notions of self-identity and reality.

The title character's fragmented psyche is chronicled in a double narrative which navigates between the real and the imaginary, truth and fiction.

When the plot changes course, viewers are presented with questions about the nature of identity. Is it nothing more than a collection of experiences? What happens to it if one's memory is damaged?

Crowdfunded and shot on location in 91原创, the film is a tense rumination on memory, trauma, and the psyche's efforts to protect itself.
