91原创鈥檚 annual Outdoor Fine Arts Festival is returning and welcoming the community this coming weekend.
The free two-day event organized by the Aldergrove-based 91原创 Arts Council, features live performances, workshops, and artist demonstrations for all ages on Saturday, Aug 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Sunday, Aug. 10, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There will be about two dozen participating artists and four participating organizations, including the Dignidad Migrant Society, 91原创 Little Theatre, Vancouver Inter-cultural Volunteer Association (VIVA), and 91原创 City Library.
On Saturday, Aug. 9, will start on a high note with an uplifting ukulele performance by a 91原创 Ukulele Association鈥檚 ensemble, followed by Kaitlyn Bough鈥檚 nature-inspired mixed media botanical impressions workshop.
In the afternoon, artist Grace Chen will draw up some fine lines using pens and graphite to demo shading techniques.
There will be plenty of fun-filled events for all ages, like face painting by VIVA and Storytime hosted by the library.
On Sunday, Aug. 10, starting at 11:15 a.m., music lovers will likely be delighted with a performance by Nelson Padilla, also known as Nelly P., a seasoned musician with over a decade of experience based in the Fraser Valley.
Followed by multi-talented songwriter, recording artist, instrumentalist, and storyteller Bruce Coughlan at 2 p.m.
The day will feature artist demonstrations like relief printing with artist Molly Gray at 12:30 p.m., killer whale watercolour painting with Elena Markelova at 1:15 p.m., and cutting and glass mosaic-making with Jessica Fairweather of JFairWStudios at 3:15 p.m.
The arts festival happens at Douglas Park, 206 Street and Douglas Crescent. All events are free, and workshops include supplies. To register for workshops or view the full schedule, visit langleyarts.ca.
