91原创 Community Music School (LCMS) will be hosting two resident string quartets for the 2016/17 season.
The internationally renowned Borealis String Quartet and the newly formed Rose Gellert String Quartet will be giving performances, and working with the school鈥檚 chamber music and orchestra students in a variety of capacities throughout the school year.
鈥淚t is a tremendous opportunity for the school to enhance our existing educational programs, particularly in the areas of chamber music, composition and community outreach,鈥 said Susan Magnusson, LCMS principal.
鈥淭hese residencies add a special dynamic to our programs, and create opportunities for collaboration with other organizations.鈥
Several performances are planned for local schools and seniors鈥 residences free of charge, and the community will be able to hear both quartets perform at a variety of LCMS events throughout the year.
The school will also be hosting chamber music camps in November and March with the Surrey Youth Orchestra that will involve both resident quartets.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a very significant achievement for an organization like LCMS to be able to have a resident quartet, let alone two quartets,鈥 Magnusson said.
鈥淭his is only possible due to the assistance of our donors, and we are very grateful to the community for its support.鈥
