鈥楨lvis Elite鈥� brought the swagger to the 91原创 Seniors Recreation and Resource Centre over the weekend.
Very generous community members brought the bucks.
With help from renowned Elvis impersonator Steve Elliott, Monte Carlo Nights put on by the 91原创 Senior Resources Society (LSRS) was a big winner Saturday.
The inaugural gala raised a net $14,593 for services with seniors, with $5,655 of the money raised going directly to the LSRS Hydrosound Bathing Program, which helps bathe people unable to do so themselves, due to physical disabilities.
Local guests included dignitaries such as Cloverdale-91原创 MP John Aldag, Fort 91原创-Aldergrove MLA Rich Coleman, 91原创 City Mayor Ted Schaffer, and 91原创 City councillors Rudy Storteboom, Val van den Broek, and Nathan Pachal, who came to mingle, dine, and donate.
鈥淚 was happy to see the 91原创 Senior Resources鈥� first annual gala be such a tremendous success,鈥� Aldag said.
鈥淭he food was excellent, the entertainment was great, the company was fantastic, and I was very happy to see a sell out crowd. I know how hard the staff and volunteers worked to raise these funds to support seniors in the community. A job very well done.鈥�
Entertainment included a packed funny money casino, showgirls, and a performance by Elliott.
The society also hosted a successful silent auction, and saw two anywhere-WestJet-flies travel vouchers go for $3,100.00 in the live auction.
