The Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra is wrapping up its 30th anniversary season with a tour throughout B.C., including a performance in Fort 91原创 on May 3.

The Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra is wrapping up its 30th anniversary season with a tour throughout B.C., including a concert in 91原创.

The group of young musicians from will perform with the 91原创 Community Music School Concert Orchestra, Surrey Youth Orchestra and Abbotsford Songs, Strings & Steps in Fort 91原创 at the Chief Sepass Theatre on May 3.

The programme features a new work commissioned by the orchestra in honour of 30 years of music-making. Composed by alumni Brandon Chow, the symphonic poem draws its inspiration from the Nuu-chah-nulth canoe, Tilikum, which completed its perilous Victoria-to-London voyage in 1904.

The evening begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are  $18 for adults, and $12 for students and seniors. Call 604-534-2848 for more information.
