Crews are hard at work putting the finishing touches on before it opens next week.

The revamped seven-acre attraction at the site of Tsawwassen鈥檚 Splashdown Waterpark is set to open to school groups on Monday before fully opening to the public on June 24.

Among the many ammenities at Big Splash will be newly renovated pools and hot tubs (including a new large, adult-only hot tub), a new clubhouse, Vegas-style cabanas for private parties, BV鈥檚 Sports Bar and Grill, a sun splash patio with umbrella furniture, new landscaping and a new park layout.

鈥淲e are building on top of the foundation that Splashdown built, and are adding a whole new look and feel to the water park for 2017,鈥� said Harold Frederiks, general manager of Big Splash.

With the re-opening of the park, there will be an added daily complimentary shuttle service to and from Downtown Vancouver.

鈥淥ur goal is to give people a water park experience that they will want to experience over and over, especially since we are so close to anyone in the Lower-Mainland. And with the complimentary shuttle service we are making it even easier to get here,鈥� Frederiks said.

After 33 years entertaining Lower Mainland families, Splashdown closed its doors for good in September. Executive Hotels and Resorts that it has secured a 99-year lease on the property and will renovate and reopen the water park in June 2017.

The company also has plans to add new slides in 2018 and build a 200-plus room hotel adjacent to the park and near the Tsawwassen Mills shopping centre, which is scheduled to open in 2019.

The park will initially be open Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and only for school groups. It will open to the general public on Saturday, June 24, running seven days a week through to Labour Day (Sept. 4), 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

All-day passes to Big Splash will cost $28 and special group rates will also be available. Admission will be free for children three-years-old and under.
