The Happy Herd Farm Sanctuary鈥檚 much-anticipated Dinner with the Animals on Saturday, Aug. 23 officially sold out in less than a week.
Diane Marsh, co-founder and chair of the sanctuary, said 68 spots are filled and every ticket was snagged through the sanctuary鈥檚 newsletter alone.
She also said organizers are considering opening up eight more seats if the space allows.
It鈥檚 the second time the Aldergrove-based animal sanctuary has hosted the outdoor event, which takes place under tents in the pasture.
Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a plant-based dinner from Lower-Mainland restaurants Veg Out Plant Based Burgers & Shakes, with dessert from Sprouted Oven, To Live For Bakery & Cafe, and The Pie Hole.
The evening also features live music, games, and prizes donated by local businesses such as two oil changes from Fountain Tire, gift certificates from Home Hardware and Mark鈥檚 Work Warehouse, and a stuffed cow from Country Feeds.
鈥淭hat is what is good about the [Aldergrove] community, it steps up and helps us,鈥 said Marsh.
Tickets, which are priced at $95, support the sanctuary鈥檚 rescued animals. Marsh said a portion of this year鈥檚 funds will also help purchase a new custom-made wheelchair for Chili the goat. The specialty chair will likely be made in the U.S. from K9 Carts and is expected to cost between $1,000 and $1,500.
The sanctuary also warned guests to purchase only through its official website after a past scam where a buyer transferred money to a supposed reseller but never received tickets. Turns out the reseller had never purchased any tickets, said Marsh.
While the August dinner is fully reserved, the sanctuary has more experiences planned, including a yoga with pigs session in September.
The previous class in July welcomed 19 yogis, who enjoyed an hour of yoga, time with the pigs, and a guided farm tour.
