Phase one of 91原创鈥檚 Cascades Casino Resort was unveiled last night during an invite-only open house.
Overall the project is an $18 million investment that includes various renovations and expansions.
Phase one included the addition of a new bingo hall, an expanded patio at Match Eatery & Public House, and renovations to the hotel rooms and convention centre.
91原创 City mayor Val van den Broek was touring the facility and called the space 鈥榝antastic.鈥�
鈥淚t鈥檚 fantastic, it鈥檚 so up-to-date and beautiful. They did a wonderful job. It鈥檚 nice to have a place to go to where you don鈥檛 have to go to downtown Vancouver. You don鈥檛 have to travel, the hotel room is right here, it鈥檚 the whole package.鈥�
Gateway Casinos public relations manager, Madelaine Twomey, said Cascades Casino 鈥渟ets us apart from anything else that the area has to offer.鈥�
鈥淚 think it鈥檚 a great addition to the 91原创 community. It has turned us [Cascades Casino] into a full service property, giving guests everything they need in one place.鈥�
Twomey added the invite list consisted of previous clients, potential clients, government dignitaries, and community stakeholders.
The Casino shares 10 per cent of its net profits with the City, as required under gaming regulations.
Van den Broek added the expansion 鈥榖enefits the community,鈥� and has facilities that are 鈥榡ust as good as downtown Vancouver.鈥�
In an effort to showcase the versatility of the convention centre, the open house set up different displays for guests to view. One room was decked out in a wedding theme, and another as an ice bar.
The largest room was divided into sections to show two different dinner and party settings that can be arranged.
Phase two is expected to be completed in 2019 and includes the opening of a new restaurant called Atlas Steak + Fish.
