Crash closed TransCanada Highway westbound in central 91原创

One person taken to hospital in serious condition in multi-vehicle crash

A crash has westbound TransCanada Highway closed indefinitely after a dinnertime crash Thursday, Aug. 7 in the area of 248 Street.

On Aug. 7, at approximately 5:46 p.m., 91原创 RCMP responded to a report of a multi-vehicle collision located near 24700-block of Highway 1. One person has been taken to hospital in serious condition, according to police.

91原创 RCMP and the British Columbia Highway Patrol units are currently on the scene investigating this incident.

鈥淭he westbound lanes of Highway 1 are closed, and traffic is being redirected at the 264 Street exit,鈥 said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, of the 91原创 RCMP. 鈥淭he Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has been called to the scene to assist with this investigation. The closure of this portion of Highway 1 may last several hours.鈥 

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area and find alternate routes. Those who was in the area at the time of the collision and especially those with dash camera footage are asked to contact the 91原创 RCMP at 604-532-3200 and quote file number 2025-25738.

This is the second serious crash on Highway 1 so far in August that has resulted in the temporary shutdown of travel lanes in at least one direction.
