A motorcyclist is dead after a collision with a Jeep Compass on Highway 11 in Abbotsford on Thursday (July 31).
The Abbotsford Police Department said in a news release that preliminary findings suggest speed and alcohol were contributing factors to the crash.
Police say the incident occurred at approximately 1:34 a.m. near Townshipline Road on Highway 11. First responders found a heavily damaged Kawasaki motorcycle and a Jeep Compass upon arrival and the motorcyclist died on scene.
The Jeep driver received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation with the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) is in its early stages, according to Abbotsford Police.
The crash closed Highway 11 northbound between Clayburn Road and Harris Road, with reopening anticipated by 9:00 a.m.
