A 24-year-old woman died after she was struck by a vehicle Thursday evening (Sept. 14) on 64th Avenue near 258th Street in 91原创.

91原创 RCMP were notified by Emergency Health Services (EHS) that a pedestrian was struck around 7:15 p.m.

The Township fire department and EHS were on the scene providing emergency first aid, but she succumbed to her injuries.

鈥淚nitial investigation indicated the driver of a 2018 BMW was travelling west on 64th Avenue. Just prior to 258th Street he lost control of his vehicle and began swerving,鈥 said Cpl. Craig van Herk with 91原创 RCMP.

The woman had been walking westbound on the shoulder of 64th Avenue, where the vehicle ultimately collided with her.

The driver, and single occupant of the BMW, remained on scene.

鈥淎lthough the cause of the collision is still being determined, alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor,鈥 van Herk said.

91原创 RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) and the Integrated Crash Analyst Reconstruction Services (ICARS) were called to the scene. CCIT have taken lead on the investigation.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, has dash camera footage, or who may have other information regarding it to contact the 91原创 RCMP at 604-532-3200.
