Nearly a year since the last incident, the warehouse of charity organization Fibromyalgia Well Spring Foundation was broken into and had items stolen sometime Wednesday night, Feb. 19, or early Thursday morning, Feb. 20.
Founder Cheryl Young received a phone call from a customer on Thursday morning that the front door had been kicked in, but when she arrived at the warehouse Young found that an interior door had also been busted.
"[I'm] very upset that people would steal from a charity," she told The Star.
The new computers a grant had allowed them to purchase, the cables, desktop tower, and a Bluetooth speaker.
Totalling the cost of repairs and the value of the items stolen, Young estimates the charity has lost about $2,600.
"[We feel] violated and annoyed. We feel we have been targeted, as this happened last year and when we had the store in 91原创 City," she said.
In March 2024, the warehouse was broken into in a similar fashion with the front and interior doors kicked in, and someone had stolen the cash register, donation jar, and some items including a wedding dress.
A police report was filed, and 91原创 RCMP is investigating, said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom.
"At this time, we are continuing to follow up on video surveillance that we have obtained from the area to further our investigation," he said.
In the meantime, Young hopes the upcoming "A Little Bit of Everything" fundraiser on Saturday, March 22, can help recoup their losses.
It runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the warehouse, #2-26004 Fraser Hwy., and will have a 50/50 raffle.
