A fire and propane tank explosion in a homeless camp drew 91原创 Township firefighters to extinguish the blaze on Sunday, June 22.

The fire, in bush near 201 Street and 88Avenue, close to an on-ramp to Highway One, was reported by a caller from the nearby Moxy's restaurant at about 2:40 p.m., said deputy Township fire chief Russ Jenkins.

"There was an explosion heard," said Jenkins.

An occupant of the camp was using a propane tank for fuel. A fire appears to have gotten out of hand, and the tank blew up.

The fire spread and burned up possessions and goods in the homeless camp, and started to spread into the surrounding brush, Jenkins said.

Firefighters doused the blaze. Jenkins said he wasn't aware of anyone being injured by the fire.
