Work has been underway on widening 208 Street since 2023.

BC Hydro will be doing several days of work at one of the busiest intersections in Willoughby this month, resulting in several days of traffic slowdowns.

Starting at 6 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, to Monday, Aug. 18, there will be single-lane, alternating traffic at the intersection of 208 Street and 72 Avenue.

From Aug. 18 to 23, the work will move to nights only, with single-lane traffic running from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., and normal travel resuming during daytime hours.

The intersection is at the centre of ongoing efforts to upgrade 208 Street and widen it to four lanes along its entire length from 64 Avenue in the south to 84 Avenue in the north.

The road widening south of the intersection is largely complete, but the intersection itself is not yet finished. Phase two of the project, north of 72 Avenue up to 76 Avenue, is curently underway.

BC Hydro has been doing electrical upgrade work along the route as well.

Road widening in another stretch of road will impact the area just east of Fort 91原创 in Glen Valley.

A stretch of 88 Avenue is being widened around the 252 Street intersection. The work has been extended to Aug. 29, and will result in some single-lane alternating traffic from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays. The work has been underway since the spring.
