91Ô´´'s Walnut Grove Drive could see a number of changes, including a two-direction bike lane, traffic calming, and a new traffic signal, depending on the results of consultation with local residents.
In May, the Township council asked staff to look into a number of upgrades for the street, which curves north from 88 Avenue past the Walnut Grove Community Centre, Walnut Grove Secondary, a local park and a significant number of townhouses.
A memo to 91Ô´´ Township staff said staff will be reporting back later this year on four key areas:
• Traffic calming
• A bi-directional bike lane
• A possible new traffic signal
• On-street parking
Between now and December, the Township will consult with emergency services, the community centre, and the school district on traffic calming. There will be a neighbourhood ballot sent out to residents in the area, polling them on their support for installing traffic calming. In general, the Township seeks at least 60 per cent support for traffic calming before installing new measures.
Several reports are expected to be complete by the end of the year, with a full report on the road expected by early in 2026.
