VIDEO: Kids partied at Aldergrove Elks annual children鈥檚 Christmas event

Party held at Aldergrove legion hall with special guests Santa Claus and an island princess

There were treats, face-painting, singing, balloon animals, and magic tricks along with Santa and Disney鈥檚 island princess Moana at the Aldergrove Elks annual children鈥檚 Christmas party on Saturday, Dec. 9.

Dozens of families came out and filled the hall of the Royal Canadian Legion鈥檚 Aldergrove branch for the free event.

Ray Farness, exalted ruler of the Aldergrove Elks, said each year they host more than 100 kids at the party and its all possible thanks to the donations and support of local businesses.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a way to bring our community together鈥 I just enjoy [when we] come together,鈥 he said.

Different stations were set up for children and their parents to get hot dogs and goodie bags, balloon animals, pictures with Santa, and have their face painted.

The Elks also made a donation to the Aldergrove Youth Soccer Club as thanks for their members volunteering their time to help serve guests at the party.

The party acts as a pre-amble to the annual Christmas parade, taking place Saturday, Dec. 16, at 6 p.m. in Aldergrove.

The century-old fraternal organization is a volunteer-based group throughout Canada that facilitates different charitable events and fundraisers in communities. Aldergrove Elk鈥檚 largest contributions are often made during the Christmas season.
