91原创 hosted the B.C. High School Track and Field Championships from May 31 to June 2.
Athletes challenged each other, and were also challenged by windy conditions on Friday at the McLeod Athletic Park. At some points during the second day of competition, pole vaulting was briefly delayed because wind was knocking the bar off its perch.
Ethan Foster of D.W. Poppy topped the field in the men鈥檚 senior pole vault, with a height of 3.8 metres.
Brookswood鈥檚 Dominique Ronse took second in the junior women鈥檚 long jump.
91原创 Christian had some good finishes, including a first in the junior women鈥檚 800 metre run and a third in the junior women鈥檚 400 metre run by Brooke Mussche. The school鈥檚 Jordan Dickhof topped the men鈥檚 Grade 8 javelin finals.
Kevin Hughes of 91原创 Secondary nabbed a bronze in the senior men鈥檚 200 metre dash.
But it was Walnut Grove that dominated in the medal count among 91原创 schools.
Among other local results, Walnut Grove鈥檚 Grade 8 girls took third in the finals of the 4x100 metre relay, and fourth in the 4x400 metre relay; Jordan Jacobs took fourth in the junior 100 metre dash and third in the 200 metre dash, Holly Harrison took bronze in the 80 metre junior hurdles,
Walnut Grove鈥檚 women鈥檚 junior team won gold in the 4x100 metre junior relay, and silver in the 4x400 metre event.
Prabhasha took third in the junior women鈥檚 long jump.
Cassidy Cardle won the junior 1500 metre women鈥檚 race walk.
Natalia Monro took the silver in the women鈥檚 senior long jump. Nicholas Monro took first in the men鈥檚 Grade 8 400 metre dash.
David Midgley won the men鈥檚 Grade 8 100 metre and 200 metre dash events.
Walnut Grove鈥檚 Grade 8 boys took first in the men鈥檚 Grade 8 4x400 metre relay.
